Very few institutions in India \u2014 or the world \u2014 can boast of the heritage and legacy you hold. Built over 150 years for royalty, now carried forward across the globe by your brand ambassadors \u2014 your proud alumni.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Words will fail me and yet I will still express \u0915\u0940 \u0906\u092a \u092e\u0947\u0930\u0940 \u0932\u093e\u0907\u092b \u0915\u094d\u092f\u0942\u0901 matter \u0915\u0930\u0924\u0947 \u0930\u0939\u094b\u0917\u0947 \u2013<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thank you for the roller coaster ride from 1988 to 1993.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From tear-filled letters back home to the madness of Free Sundays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From a crying, homesick 11-year-old to a confident, informed, independent lad five years later.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From those monthly tonga rides to the dentist (yes, braces for buckteeth!) \u2014 and being billed for it in the semi-annual statements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From my first friend in Ajay Pal House \u2014 Anurag Saboo \u2014 to a network that now spans cities and continents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From KJ Mehta to the finicky Uncle at Kitab Ghar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From Sher-e-Punjab to Honey Dew to the uber-luxurious Mansingh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From cramped, hot, suffocating (yet magnificent) assembly hall to the corners and alleys that remained ours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are smells and tastes that still, after three decades, bring back your memories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The scent of first rains \u2014 running from mess to hostel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bread and bhujia with ketchup \u2014 my eternal comfort food.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nivea cream \u2014 pure hostel nostalgia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hot water gargles \u2014 memories of Dr. Ericson and the Anglo-Indian nurses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From prayers in the assembly to those whispered at the temple \u2014 some still etched in memory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From verbal abuse to corporal punishment to bullying \u2014 things that wouldn\u2019t survive today\u2019s education system, but were part of ours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From dressing up as a woman in a play called Kitty Party<\/em> \u2014 yes, that digitized video still exists, and no, I\u2019m not sharing it!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

No principal, for me, matches Mr. HL Dutt \u2014 white Contessa, pipe, and impeccable style. I still wonder why today\u2019s head mustn\u2019t be a career educationist. It\u2019s an educational institute, not a military academy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There were biases. I was teased \u2014 not kindly \u2014 for my political background.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some teachers needed a reason just to be extra friendly with the boys.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But we got a mini version of the world in you \u2014 some amazing people, and some I\u2019m glad I never met again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was part of growing up. It made us harder, but never bitter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thank you for shaping me. For memories that remain stuck in 1993. For being part of every batch\u2019s story \u2014 from Instagram bios to car stickers to lifelong pride.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Go Mayo !!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
