Frescoes of Mandawa
The fresco trail in Mandawa winds through historic lanes lined with richly-painted havelis, where murals were commissioned to record local legends, religious stories, royal life, trade, travel and a changing world. Walk through town to see these narratives unfold across the walls of Gulab Rai Ladia Haveli, Lakshminarayan Ladia Haveli, Mohanlal Saraf Haveli, Chowkhani Haveli and more.
Gangaur
Gangaur, celebrated in Chaitra (March–April), is one of Rajasthan’s most important festivals, marking spring, harvest and marital devotion. Women worship Gan (Shiva) and Gauri (Parvati) over 16 days, with the celebrations culminating in a ceremonial immersion.
At Mandawa, guests can witness the Isar Gangaur Puja, followed by a vibrant procession of musicians, performers, palanquins, chariots, camels and horses. The festivities conclude with the immersion of the idols and a lively town fair featuring rides, performances, sweets and local delicacies.
Holi
Holi in Mandawa is a true riot of colours and the entire village comes together to celebrate, irrespective of religion. Mostly played with dry colours (gulal), the celebrations here combine fun and frolic with traditional performances, such as the customary dance (Gindar) performed by men dressed as women. Locals dance to folk tunes, traditional sweets are served even as the sky is obscured in a cascade of colours.
